Cam CC 3rd XI edged out in thriller

Cam lost the toss and were put into bat. Andy Casse and Steve Collard to the crease with Casse straight on the attack notching up 22 in half as many balls before losing his wicket. Skipper for the day Dil was next up but didn’t add many more before he was dispatched back to the changing room. This however allowed the flamboyant Ben Edwards enter the crease and soon the fielding side were on full alert 🚨 taking positions out on the boundary to try to slow him down. Collard was next to fall but not before reaching his 50, and having a 140 run partnership with Edwards. Next up was a rising star within the Cam youth (and now senior) team. Making his senior debut at 12 years old George J came and batted like a seasoned pro hitting a sublime 29 off 25 balls before his wicket fell. After George had been dismissed Cam only managed to score a further 7 runs before the 40 overs were up, but those few runs enabled Ben Edwards to complete his maiden 💯 👏🏻 Cam Finished 241 – 7.
Cam’s opening bowling partnership of Anthony Matthews and Colborn kept the home batsmen at bay for 12 overs putting Cam in a good position, but without taking a wicket. First change bowler Ethan Matthews brought something different and had soon claimed the first two wickets. But the Painswick pairing of Nottingham and Galvin soon got settled and had a taste for runs. Another bowling change introduced young George’s leggy’s and managed to force Galvin to into a mistake and had him caught on the boundary by Colborn. However the damage had been done by this stage as despite best efforts from Cam’s bowlers a few loose balls gave the home side the opportunity to chase down the total in the 38th over. Pick of the bowling for Cam was Anthony Matthews with figures of 8-1-23-1 🐸🏏
