The 1st XI finally overcame a spirited Newent CC team winning by 6 wickets. Alex Atkinson was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-51. Newent recovered from 7-2 thanks to Paddy Thompson (91). Thompson was the mainstay of the Newent innings with contributions from Mason (30) and Griffiths (34). At tea Newent had made their way to 202-6.
Cam set about the reply in similar fashion to their counterparts losing the wickets of Udal, Newman and Whitemore cheaply to leave themselves 18-3. Jake Dolbear and Ed Paddock soon found their feet, playing some exquisite shots to all parts of the ground. Paddock was quickly on his way to 50 as he set about taking the game away from the visitors. Dolbear followed Paddock to his half century as the pair dominated proceedings at Everlands. Paddock (82) was finally caught when he tried to hit over long off ending a superb innings.
Skipper Alex Ballard (20*) carried on the momentum with Dolbear (66*) and the pair reached the target with 15 overs to spare winning by a margin of 6 wickets.
Cam CC 1st XI travel to Apperley on Saturday hoping to continue the good run of form.
