Derby day win for Cam 3s

On Saturday 18th May, the 3rd team faced Stinchcombe CC 2nd XI team on their home turf. Cam won the toss and decided to field first.

Bowling and Fielding Performance:
The bowling attack was effective from the start, with opening bowlers Anthony Matthews and Alfie D maintaining pressure from the first ball. This early pressure paved the way for Matthew T and Jason Brown to take advantage, each claiming a wicket from the Stinchcombe openers.

The bowlers were well-supported by the fielders, with George J taking three excellent catches, Graham Willcox securing one in the slips, and Anthony Matthews contributing another catch.

Cam had the advantage of two wicketkeepers, with Andy Casse initially behind the stumps while Alfie D completed his overs, taking 2 wickets. After Andy handed over the gloves, he joined the bowling attack, swiftly taking 3 wickets, including a brilliant caught-and-bowled.

Anthony Matthews returned for a second spell, effectively wrapping up the tail by taking 2 additional wickets. Stinchcombe was bowled out for 124 in the 37th over.

Batting Performance:
Cam’s batting innings began with openers Andy Casse and Marlene Brown. They provided a solid start until Marlene was dismissed. Andy, joined by Steve Collard, continued to build the innings, forming a quick 30-run partnership.

Andy top-scored with 41 runs before his dismissal. Steve was the next to fall, followed by quick wickets of Ben Edwards, Jason Brown, and George J. However, vice-captain Graham Willcox and Ben Johnson stabilised the innings. Graham’s timely boundaries and a six ensured Cam crossed the finish line, winning by 4 wickets.

This match showcased a remarkable team effort, leading to a well-deserved victory.
