Match Report: Cam Ladies vs Painswick (T20)
Another win against Painswick on Sunday continues Cam’s unbeaten streak in both the T20 and 35-over formats this season.
Painswick won the toss and elected to field first in the T20 head-to-head. A change in the batting order allowed Rosie Dimery and Vicky Morgan to open for Cam. Accurate bowling from Painswick restricted runs initially, but as confidence increased, the runs began to flow. The opening partnership ended at 70 when Maheen Khan bowled Dimery for 46.
Morgan continued to add to the runs with Jan Street (20 runs), Jackie Kaiser, and Ali Dixon, eventually being dismissed for a respectable 38 runs. Cam finished their innings at 132 for 4.
After the break, Jas Gillingham and Rosie Dimery opened the bowling for Cam. Painswick’s chase started slowly, but the breakthrough came in the 8th over when Clair Mercer uprooted Molly Hadfield’s middle stump.
There were strong performances in the field, with great stops by Laura Manley slowing the run rate. Diane Duxbury delivered an incisive bowling performance, taking a wicket with her first ball and completing a maiden over.
A fantastic batting performance from Lucy Walton, who remained unbeaten on 49, kept Painswick in the chase. Walton’s innings, marked by several boundaries, proved challenging for Cam. Kate Woolway also impressed for Painswick, but their effort fell short as they finished at 115 for 2.
Player of the Match for Cam was Rosie Dimery.
Thanks to everyone who helped and supported – it was a lovely atmosphere. Cam will take on Stroud next Sunday at Cam playing fields, starting at 2 pm.
